Violin / Hao-Cheng Chang

     Born in Chiayi, Taiwan, Hao-Cheng Chang obtained Bachelor of Music from the music department of National Sun Yat-sen University. He’s studied with professors Gregory Lee, Pei-Ju Chen, Yung-Hsin Fang and Yu-Wen Chen.

     While still in school, Chang has received guidance from renowned Taiwanese as well as foreign musicians and had great success from various violin as well as chamber music competitions.

     In addition to his classical background, he also enjoys exploring other music styles and has received instruction on jazz music from acclaimed musicians, including Italian jazz musician Rosario Giuliani and Harold Danko, faculty of Eastman School of Music in the US.

     In 2013, Chang was invited as a soloist to perform with the jazz ensemble of National Sun Yat-sen University at the Taichung Jazz Festival, and in 2014, he was invited to perform solo violin improvisation at Yidexuan in Shanghai. In 2016, he was accepted to Berklee College of Music with a scholarship. In 2017, he was invited to perform at the Tainan Antique Market and to be the Market’s artist-in-residence; in the same year, he was invited to perform with gypsy jazz musicians Antoine Boyer and Denis Chang at the Eslite Performance Hall of the Eslite Spectrum Songyan Store in Taipei.
