Violin / Yi-Hsiu Liu
A native of Taiwan, Yi-Hsiu Liu began violin lessons at age 7, her former teachers include Chun-Ning Lee, Wei-Chung Chiang, Cheng-Tu Su, Irina Muresanu, and Peter Zazofsky. Ms. Liu received her Master of Music from The Boston Conservatory and her Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance from Boston University.
Winner of 2007 Plymouth Music Competition in Massachusetts, Ms. Liu has performed concerts in France, Austria, Italy, Australia, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, and Japan. While living in Boston, she was an active violinist with frequent appearances with The Boston Chamber Orchestra, Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Indian Hill, Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra, and Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra. One of the founding faculty members of Youth & Muse Boston International Music Festival, Ms. Liu is passionate about music education and enjoys working with young musicians. She taught at the Concord Conservatory of Music and Cambridge Center for Adult Education in Massachusetts. Currently resides in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Ms. Liu teaches at the Department of Music of National Pingtung University and serves as an artist in residence at National Sun Yat-sen University. Additionally, Ms. Liu devotes her time sharing music with the public through concert lectures and academic seminars. Her recent research includes Integration and Innovation in Art: A Brand New Production of Nan-YI’ Musical Theater’s Industrial City (2018), and Bernstein’s musical notes: Serenade’s motive and its development (2019).
